Hi all, I phoned Thornbrook Barn and asked for recommendations as to where to eat, The Marton was recommended and was told they "would see us right there" booking is necessary.

Nearby is The Masons - pubbar grub and not recommended.

But hey, I am happy to go with the flow, Hutch and Alan and Grey have put a lot of effort into this so I will leave it up to them if that is OK.

If a further afield venue is desired then we could look for a local minibus taxi service, would likely mean some of us would have to wait a little while (at each end) as I understand the nearest taxi company has only one minibus.

The bummer is that some of us would have to hang around the bar waiting fopr the minibus to return to the restaurant, fair do's, those who take the early mini-bus will compensate those who wait by picking up the bar tab. :p
It’s only 8/10ths of a mile. A leisurely 15 minutes. That said my old battered knees may take longer. I’ll ask Terri if she will drive?
John,
One for you. I will support your choice. Go for it my boy :cheer:

Anseo. I live round the corner from the park and spent a day especially looking at venues. The Red Lion came up best by far. Close enough, very hospitable, ressonably priced and spacious. Anyway people must decide and i will cancel all tentative reservations. Waiting for feedback. BTW i spoke to the owners of the park when doing the recce. BTW i did not and cannot find a pub called the Marton anywhere nearby?

Hi all, bit confused here (nothing unusual  ).

Are we all talking about the same caravan site?

The Red Lion that I can find is a very long way from Thornbrook Barn, Ingleton.

OK.

Some decisions needed  .

CanI ask a previous King (aka Dustydog ,Ex Kingy) , who is to make the meal night reservation?

If The Marton is available I can try to reserve a place for say 12 persons (not sure of exact numbers).

Can the revered Ex Kingy advise please? Or should I butt out and leave it to whomever Ex Kingy delegates it to

Trust a Safa to get us confused, For the spring meet why not the Marston Arms. , Anseo did check with a taxi firm. Lets get to Ingleton, have a beer and sort it out then. . Months to go until The real Woosie fest in September.

Making us look like a bunch of British Politicans over leaving the EU. :p

I called the Marton Arms, we can have an 18.30 hours or a 20.15 hours booking on Saturday the 27th April 2019. (I did not ask about reservations on Friday the 26th).

The 18.30 hours will mean that we have to vacate our tables for the 20.15 hours booking, I guess if we take the 20.15 hours booking we can stay there for the rest of the evening.

Whatya all think, are you happy with the Marston Arms and if you are what reservation time should be booked, I guess that we should not leave it any later than tomorrow to make a reservation.

I inquired if 12 to 14 seats are available and The Marton Arms said "Yes".

Up to you guys, please advise.

Please check my EDITS folks.
Last Edit 11.31 Mondayy 22nd April 20129

My bad, I have been stating May instead of April

Ok for us, go for it.
2 adults, + dogs.

Would the dogs prefer the 18.30 hours table or the 20.15 hours table reservation ?

They prefer earlier, as they get fed after us , Alpha thing, and i can't eat on an empty stomach. :p but go with the flow.

Thanks Craig, and yes we will have pics, Hutch is a dab hand at posting them and as such he has accepted to be volunteered to post all pics.

OK, Hutch has not volunteered or accepted anything, but stuff him, we all have decided he's doing it (unless he wants the SEVERE MALKY).

I am I looking forward to Black Pud and Scallops and will avail Hutch of a nice Bevy for posting said pics.

Leaving today for Bridge Villa Walingford on a 3 day stopover before heading north to Ingleton on Thursday.
Need to help out my son and family who are having to deal with a situation at the moment.
......they live near Wallingford .
We are fine with any arrangements for the fest but may be absent on Friday 26th.
......we would be going to Harrogate Spring show if the weather is good.

For me eating before 8.30 is better.
How about ask the owner if we can have a section where we arrive at 6pm and leave after 10h00. They may make a plan. Would be much better judging from previous experience. You could even plan a quiz or something as entertainment together with meal and extended socialization!

Hi all,

I have made a reservation for 1830 hours on Saturday 27th April 2019 at The Marton Arms, Ingleton.

It's a short walk from Thornbrook Barn caravan site, approx 10 minutes I am informed.

The manager (Liam) said that we can arrive at 1800 or earlier, and after we have dined he will sort something out about providing an area for us to socialise in (as per Grey's suggestion).

As for a quiz, the person for that I suggest is Dustydog, can you organise that DD?

How about a Jacobs Table on the Sunday, I am up for that and wonder if the majority would like to take part, it is only a matter of bring along some treatsdelicacies and some beverages for sharing.

I think there are 10 of us so far committed, can someone confirm 'Hutch !'.

Dustydog and Hutch are the only ones that I know who will be bringing dogs along.

I have emailed the Marton Arms asking if there is an area where the dogs can be accommodated, I will let you know what the response is.

I'm sure Dustydog will let all pets reside in the Wyoming if needs must, I will be bringing the 4 homing pigeons again DD, they liked being in your caravn at the last meet-up.
