Di
Try this for your Kindle....
If you look under more,
select language and keyboard,
then keyboard settings,
default,
keyboard setting again,
and turning off predictive text, that should work ....

Good idea to take the caravan (Sir) Baldrick WC......I have a cunning plan!
Make sure the hog is a hog and not a horse
Enjoy.

Star photo again. Won another pair of towing mirrors.

Another????
I don't think so.......

My caravan snapshots regularly appear in Practical Caravan magazine but I've never won anything - until now
smiley-laughing.gif

I know that the majority of forumites dislike Facebook but I use it to stay in touch with friends from the vintage re-enactment and entertaiment scene, to keep tabs on what my sons are REALLY doing and to answer the odd technical question from caravanners which crops up on PCv's Facebook page from time to time.
More often than not I add a link to this forum on PCv's Facebook page (which shows up as the magazine front page) and we've had one or two newbies who have signed up after seeing the link on PCv's Facebook, not that I'm trying to poach you undestand, perish the thought
smiley-innocent.gif

I's very easy to add pictures and captions to Facebook and Practical Caravan Community Editor Stacie Pardoe often asks to use my snapshots when she sees ones that are suitable, which help to fill a bit of magazine column space and perhaps encourages others to submit their photos.
I never expected to win anything and have been more than happy to see my offerings published in the magazine.
I had forgotten about the latest photos when I was away in the caravan near to Southwold last week and didn't have time to look through our copy of the magazine when I came back on Wednesday so I didn't know that I'd won.
I had a very pleasant surprise when an email from Stacie arrived yesterday afternoon to tell me that my picture had been chosen as the months 'Star Photo' and that the prize is a pair of Millenco towing mirrors.
There may perhaps be more of my photos appearing in PCv magazine from time to time because I have made it clear to Stacie that she and her colleagues are welcome to use my submitted pictures whenever and however they want to, but having won the towing mirrors just this once I've had my one turn at 'Star Photo' so I wont be winning anything else and I never won anything before.
Anybody can submit their caravan related photos, they could be scenery, families enjoying the caravan or pretty much anything to do with holidays and touring.
If you prefer not to use Facebook simply start a topic on the General message board and I'll send a link to Stacie to give her the heads up because she is a very busy lady who works part time for PCv along with looking after her young family but she is always interested in what forumites are doing and seeing their pictures.
There is always a good chance of some of your pictures being published and of winning the Star Photo prize, so keep submitting your pics because you have to be in it to win it

I've been saving computer monitor ink Sir WC and I have to use up my allowance from Lord Hezza before the end of the month or I'll become a victim of cuts and he might take my towing mirrors back

Besides stupid irrelevant and nonsencial comments, my main dislike of Facebook is notifications and trying to switch them off. For the first time in over 2 years I did two friend requests. Now every time they post I am notified even though what they have posted is totally irrelevant to me. I am not sure why in a moment of madness I asked these people to be "friends" as I have their personal email addresses, their home numbers and chat to them on a regular basis? Still don't really see any point in being an active subscriber on FB.

It would be a dull old world if we all liked the same things Surfer and it would appear that many internet users from the older generation dislike Facebook for one reason or another.
It's a simple matter to disable the Facebook notifications that are annoying you, log in to FB and click on Home, click on the cog wheel icon at the top right which opens the tools and settings menu, click on 'account settings' and in the sidebar on the left you will see 'Notifications'. Click on 'notifications' and disable them, hey presto- no more email notifications.

Thanks Parksy. I have done as you advised so hopefully it will stop. The biggest culprits are my youndg nieces and they post the biggest load of uninteresting and irrelevant garbage. Can one set it up so that you only receive notifications from a certain person or group and none from any one else? Either that or reduce my "friend" list from about 20 down to almost zero!

I know exactly what you mean Surfer but you although you have no control over the amount of irrelevant garbage which is of no interest to you that your nieces add to Facebook you can control how much if any of it you get on your own Facebook.
Between each bit of information or picture that lands on your Facebook page you may notice a thin grey dividing line.
If the downward pointing arrow is not visible hover your mouse over the right hand end of the line and it will appear.
Left click and a click box with the words 'Hide' and 'Report this story as spam' will appear so left click on 'Hide'.
A drop down box will appear giving you the options to control how much material you receive from that contributor so you could click on 'Show only important messages' for instance.
Have a play around with it and don't forget to explore the options in youe Privacy settings, it's possible to get Facebook to work how you want it to with a bit of time and experimentation, trial and error.
