    Sorrento

Hi, We spent a week in Sorrento in 2005 as part of a month long tour around Italy. We just took pot luck and picked a site just outside the town from the CC guide. I don't recall the name so not much help.We weren't too bothered about the site itself as it was just a base to explore a fantastic...

    Oakdean park new forest

Their sister site, Forest Edge is next door and are tourers only. You can walk through the woods to Oakdene and use the pool etc. Only slight drawback is that its closer to the A31 and does suffer from traffic noise. They also have Litton Lawn near Lymington and Merley Court near Wimborne, both...

    Bashley Park New Forest

We visit Bashleyon a regular basis and have never had a problem with the wardens. If you are camping as part of a club rally there is no reuirement to depart at 1000. Last weekend we left at 1600 onthe Sunday, others were still there and no warden pestered anyone. If you are not part of a...

Saab 9-5 Estate 3.0 V6 TDi with Elddis Avante 630

I have had a 9-5 3.0 TiD for five years. I tow a 1650 kg van all over Europe and it's a superb tow car. I would highly recommend it. The Certificate of Conformity supplied with the car gives the following data; Unladen weight- 1760 kgs. Max permissable weight- 2210 kgs. Max noseweight 75...

Calais to Salzburg - mid point site ?

We always use Camping Buttelwoog at Dahn, near to Pirmasens. It's about 6 hrs from Calais, is in nice rural setting popular for walking. There is a good on site restaurant. Its listed on P271 of the current CC guide. Last week we paid _24 for an overnight stop.

    Hymer - Problems on sites

I've had a Hymer for 5 years. It's a fantastic van and I've never had a single problem with entry to sites. Neither have I had problems getting it insured. Try NFU.

    Motor Mover

Sorry but I dont understand why you blame the company. Regardless of the design you know the mover is there and if you hit a kerb then there's a fair chance that you will damamge it. Whilst I understand how annoying it must be I think you should just put it down to experience.

    Overnight stop Calais

I'm afraid to say the advice from Val is somewhat foolhardy. I personally know of two people who have had their cars broken into whilst attempting to sleep in their vans at Calais docks. On both occasions the much talked about security officers where nowhere to be seen. Gendarmes took several...

    Insurance - German Caravans

NFU insured our Hymer with no problems. They are also very good value.

    Gaslow cylinders

Can anyone give a guide as to how much these refillable cylinders are. They would certainly solve the problem of running out on long foreign trips.

Lack of mid & top range family vans

Take a look at Hymer, Hobby, Buerstner to name but a few. They all do child friendly layouts with fixed bunks and the quality of the vans are in a different league. If you buy in Germany you'll also save thousands.

    Kia Sorrento

If fuel economy is important to you then sell it and buy a normal car. My diesel estate car does more mpg towing than yours does solo. It also has refinement levels, performance and roadholding that a 4x4 driver could only dream about. We tow a 1600 kgs caravan and in ten years of towing have...

    Sitesin Belgium and Germany

I also use this route a lot on our way to Croatia. Two other sites you may consider are Camping Buttelwoog at Dahn (near Pirmasens) or Tenda Park at Rosenheim. Both are near to the motorway, have first rate facilities and a restaurant.
