    Nissan X-trail - realistic MPG

In case you want to look at the current X-Trail: Our 2.0 171 bhp does 44 indicated (41-42 calculated) tank to tank solo with mixed short/long town/country driving. Just back from a weekend in Norfolk 85 miles away, 24mpg going and 30mpg (indicated) return - both at a cruise-controlled 60mph on...

    The new x-trail

The 173's clutch action is a bit odd - maybe it's the geometry of the linkage, either that or I keep changing my shoes. It never seems to "catch" in the same place twice. Apart from that it works well enough though. Shame that the chap who designed the electrics had never driven a VW - he...

    Pageant Series 7 Launch

It's careless design of the page that takes your details. Quotes and the "at" sign are reversed, so use shift-2 to get @. Tabbing between the fields also goes in an unexpected order. Doesn't create the impression Bailey wanted. The caravans look interesting though... Bryn

    New Bailey Pageant 7

Nearly bought a Senator Indiana - glad we delayed now. A Pageant with the same width and less weight should do nicely. Or maybe discounts will be higher on the Senators post-June... Bryn

    New 08 Cars

The new diesel X-Trail has quite old-fashioned running-in requirements - 1000 miles (if I remember right) at quite moderate speeds. No oil change though! I'm still not fully used to the clutch operation on mine. It's a bit odd in the way it takes up the drive, difficult to describe. Maybe it's...

New Nissan X-Trail v Santa Fe?

Hi Sarah You asked whether the 173 is worth getting, rather than the 150bhp. I decided on the 173 for more relaxed towing (hate slowing down on hills) but if only the 150 had been available I'm sure I'd have been happy with that. The main difference is that the 173 has an intercooler, which...

New Nissan X-Trail v Santa Fe?

I have the 173 X-trail Sport, but haven't looked for a towbar yet. The car's destined to tow a 1500kg van (not decided which one yet). We went for 4WD to avoid grass skids when moving the van in the garden, but wanted as good economy as reasonably possible. Depreciation is the main expense...

    Citroen C-Crosser

We've been driving the new XT for a month now. It's no beauty but is very practical, and comfortable over long distances. The only niggle so far is having to turn the ignition on to wind the windows up or down after you've stopped the engine. MPG is in the low 40s. Not towed yet. Bryn

    Nissan X-Trail (the new one)

Well JohnG, this 173 engine is new, French and has a very high specific power output. Hmmm... I see why you are wary! My fingers are crossed. Bryn

    Nissan X-Trail (the new one)

Try the 171 (173?) bhp version too. Since starting this thread I've bought one. Haven't towed with it yet but solo and with less than 1000 miles on the clock I think it's going to be good. Bryn
