Thinking of changing to an Avondale Argente 642-4

We have a 2006 version. We have had no problems, covering just over 4500 miles and 168 nights. To us the layout and quality are good.

Good to hear all the views and thoughts.

Advice please - We're thinking of trying CL's...

We use CL's all the time. The whole atmosphere is so gentle and no hustle or bustle of a big site. There is generally lots of grass to play on and the views can be amazing. Many CL's have no electric, hence we use solar, permanently fitted to the roof. When there is no hook up, you will use...

    New van - PDI

If you can, pick the van up during the week, not the weekend. This way you can have a longer check through the van with the dealer. If you notice anything the maintenance guys are also there to put it right

    Driving onto ferry

When we drove onto the ferry at Le Harve yesterday, as we drove onto the ferry, the plastic feet attached to the rear steadies were wripped off, they have split the plastic. The caravan is fine, but I do think that these feet prevented perhaps more serious damage. We drove on very slow...

    Pont du Normandie bridge tolls.

The toll is indeed 5.80 euros. We went over the bridge yesterday. Each way though. It is a smart bridge to look at, pretty impressive.

    Damage Barton

Hi Chelsea. We have been to the site. We spent 3 weeks there in August 2005. As a word of warning it does get very windy here. It ripped our awning even with storm straps. As for the dog on the beach, I am pretty sure that dogs are only able to go on during the winter. The beach however is...

    Caravan bathroom

I am with you Lol. I don't understand, why some people are so against the end bathroom.

    Anybody else without a telly?

We take the television away with us, put only set it up if the weather is so rubbish, we do not get out. However, when we are away when it is dark in the evenings, i.e. over Winter, we do take it and use it.

    Caravan bathroom

We are a family of 4 and we all use the vans bathroom facilities all the time. However we stay on CL's normally with no facilities, including no electric. We have in the past had a tiny side bathroom, and it did not work. To us the end big bathroom is best. However if you never use or never...

    paying for a caravan

Did not finish what I was writing, when I pressed the wrong button. Yes our finance is over 5 years, with the remainder of the balance paid up front, partly with a trade in and with cash. With ever increasing debt problems in the country, I was just intrigued. Thoughts???

    paying for a caravan

I was wondering how people pay for their new caravans, whether second hand or new. I took our van for its service today. The dealership were offering 10 years with no deposit. Do people take this root, 10 years is a long time, I realise that it is a massive investment, but 10 years. Do...

    nissan or toyota pickups

Hi. I have the Mazda double pickup. I have never had a problem getting into any sites. It is not sign writen though! In 1999, I bought a new Nissan pickup and it was diabolical on fuel efficiency. I do think that I had a Friday afternoon mdel!! It is now an older version of the one available...

    Phantom problems

Mikey, We have the RAC trackstar in the caravan. I forgot to turn the tracker off last summer and yes I did not get a phone call either. I phoned Trackstar and they knew where it was when they entered the details ( exactly where it was). Trackstar was not notified that we had moved the van...

    is 2007 fully booked?

I have booked a few weekends and a couple of weeks during the summer on CL's, including some over bank holidays. I have had no problems, including sites in the New Forest, Cornwall and the Peak District.
