    Hyundai Sante Fe

For my two penny worth, don't consider a 4x4. you get reduced fuel consumption all yr round for wanting to tow 10 days out of 365. WE have an MPV (VW Sharan) although there is lots of choice. Much more flexible in terms of use and solo MPG in mid 40's - its a diesel. 7 seats great for family...

    Sites in Fife

Stayed here last weekend. Site is clean and toilets are okay. Only slight moan is that pitches are quite close together, and that fees are expensive -

    What towcar to pick?

Forget a 4x4! We upgraded our towcar to handle a v. large single axle caravan - 1450kg MPTLM. We purchased a MPV which weighs circa 1720kg (VW Sharan TDi). Towing is a dream even cruises in 6th gear at 60 mph. Benefit of solo use is high fuel economy - circa 40 mpg plus practicality of up...

    New to caravanning

You have a real choice to make since (in my opinion anyway), you either buy a van with two lounge areas (front and rear) where side bathroom is compact - or one with a rear bathroom with more space, where extra seating / bed area is on side of van. Consider whether you really need the bigger...

    Towing weights

suggest you chk the max tow weight MPTLM for your caravan not the MIRO. This will give you best guide as to whether van is too heavy.

    Explorer washrooms

we have an 2003 Elddis Odyssey 505 (bathroom on offside in middle of van), and our only gripe is that when the toilet roll holder is stocked with paper, it prevents the toilet seat from being in the up position - only needs to be 2/3 inches higher or on other wall. It's really a really stupid...

    FREELANDER TD4

Rob and Richard appear to be duped by the stability and high noseweight capability of the freelander that into thinking it's great for towing heavy caravans i.e. significantly higher weight than its own kerb weight. I can only imagine that towing a 1750kg van with a freelander is an accident...

    car/caravan combination

It's all about matching weight of car to required van. With 5 children, expect you're after at least a five berth maybe 6 berth, and with plenty of saloon room for day time also. There are a number of large / long single axle vans that sleep 5 or 6, or you can go to twin axle vans. Once you...

    Ayrshire

I'm looking for a good site in/around Ayr for Easter with good play areas for young ones - also decent baby / toddler wash facilities. Tempted by both Craigie Gardens and Culzean Castle. Any views on either, or indeed anywhere else?

    Method for levelling van

I use a spirit level. BEFORE you unhitch the car, check the spirit level on a level surface (we use work surface just inside door) across the van i.e. parallel to a line between wheels. If you need to, you can then place a small ramp (available from most outlets, or you can make your own)...
