Welcome to the forum, you might find you will get a better response to your 12v question if you place it in the General or Technical section.

While you are hooked up to the 240v on site your battery will be charging, I dont know about the car charging, I am sure one the other wise forum types will help with that one.

Oh and happy vanning,

F

Your Battery should be charging as you drive, providing you have a recognised trailer socket, and Relay installed. if your Van is fited with a batery charger then it will charge when attached to the mains, if not you need to purchase a leisure battery charger, conventional Car battery chargers are not recommended for leisure batteries hope this helps

Norman, as with lots of things to do with caravanning 'it all depends'.

On mains the battery will charge assuming you have a charger fitted and it is switched on.

The car will charge the battery whilst on the move. The car and caravan wiring must be compatable. The convention was changed on 1998 so if you have a car wired for post 98 and a pre 98 van it will not charge (pre 98 car and post 98 van there is no problem}.

If you want any further information please ask - you will get a faster response if you post queries like this in the technical section.

Battery Charging. Thanks to ray(c) and fouldsy for the information. I now know exactly what to do. Out of interest, I tow with a post 98 car and a pre 98 "van". Really appreciated.
