It can be set to unlock all doors or just the drivers door. If set to drivers door only, then driver unlocks others when inside,

how do you do it

It is usually a sequence of presses of the fob and the touch panel on the front door handles, or there is a button to press before you exit the vehicle, or its on the infotainment system. Whichever you do it is straight forward and simple. I won't say the sequence in our car but it works!
Many dealers will tell you that the key puts out a continuous signal or that the fob goes to sleep neither of which are true. If you go to open the car by touch (keyless) and look at the fob at the same time you will see a LED on the fob flash. That LED flashes once every time the fob transmits, and it doesn't flash when the keyless operation is disabled.

Why not remove the fuel pump relay whilst car at home and you are away? No thief will bother with a non starter

I would have thought there would be an after market product installed in the start system that requires a PIN to be spoken to it or even keyed in, little doubt it could be hard wired out but that would add a bit more hassle to the thief's task? Mobile phone app enabled?

I have to concede I do like the innate simplicity of the fob batteries that go to sleep, coupled with a practice of leaving the fob static when not required, just I don't like the massive premium price the vender asks, at present.
A work round any Patent protection could be that functionality being integrated into the fob itself?

That is exactly how the Ghost immobiliser works. You need to input a sequence of presses to access the vehicle. I think yours has an after market fitting as no such thing in either of our cars? It is the damage they cause trying to access the car before they realise it will not start that is a concern as the damage could run into the thousands if they have damaged wiring etc.

Someone on another forum suggested the Pedlock which looks very robust and is a very visible deterrent. Having has two cars stolen in the past albeit not in the UK, we do not want another car stolen. Link to Pedlock. https://pedlocksecurity.co.uk/product/pedlock-universal/
