Hi Dustydog

I am willing to bet you are a Swift owner. However,

Actually, i could point you to several instances where, in my opinion, Swift, and others, have gained a clear commercial advantage from their presence on the CT forum, posters have openly admitted this in their responses to Swift.

Phil.
Obviously not a planet populated by a few led by greed.

Swift have obviously brought benefits to that forum as can been seen by the 98% of posts supporting Swifts action. I realise some are blinkered in their wish to progress, whether they be those who wish to kill the goose who laid the golden egg or those who need to stay in tune with Admin for reasons only known to them ;O)

I am afraid that phil 1041 has a particular bee in his bonnet about The Swift Group and seems to take every oppertunity to deride them. I do hope he gets over it before it takes over his life entirely.

From the amount of posts he's made sucking up to the CT Admin on CT, and now on here, I would think he's past the Mod stage and is now in line for a place next to the Chief Executive :O)

Read also above CT2 has gained members due to swifts involvement, so maybe swift should be charging CT2. I am not a swift owner , nor have I ever been but seems like CT2 need and benifit more from Swift input than Swift need CT2.

These are just my opinions of course, I am sure there are many on here who do not agree with me, but we do live in a free country and as such, are entitled to voice said opinions thank goodness.

Phil.

But not on CT2 it would appear where the subject is closed ;O)

One thing that has surprised me somewhat has been T&T ... Despite all the comments on every other caravan site, nothing ... not even a whisper ... on T&T

Now I know both sites work together a lot .. but the coincidence is, IMHO, too high.

So, T&T probably off my list as well as CT2 .. :(

If you go through all the mails on CT you will see that admin never once deny having asked for thousands of pounds. The lower figure was a secondary request and would have restricted Swift to the trade forum ONLY.

No, I am not now a swift owner and I am not about to become one.

Hi Phil

As confirmed by Lord B I am a Bailey man but I have the where with all to recognise a manufacturer who is is willing to help people on this and the CT forum.

I just cannot understand why you and your cohorts seem oblivious to the the fact that Swift are only doing their best to help caravanners.

Do you think this costs them nothing?

I just cannot understand how on earth any intelligent person can say that Swift's contributions on all the forums results in "commercial gains" .

It has taken us years to get Swift and to a lesser extent Bailey to take an active role on the forums, 99.9% responding to moans and questions more appropriately addressed to the dealer or elsewhere.

Rather than insult them with a charge don't you think it just may be courteous to say thankyou?

Cheers

.... don't forget 'sorry' either Dusty. I think CT would gain more credibility by apologising and saying they had got it wrong and misjudged the mood of their members ;O)

The more I read from phil 1041, more convinced I become that he has a hidden agenda, I find his persistent references to the commercial gain made by Swifts somewhat at odds with his insistence that CT2 should "charge" large sums of money for allowing any manufacturer to participate.

At first glance it appears to be an extreme case of sucking up.

Cynical? Maybe,it won't be first time I have been called that, but my shoulders are broad, then so is the rest of me.

Swift have gone above and beyond their liabilty to customers by their actions on Caravan Talk, however the very fact that people have stated they have bought a Swift caravan because of Swift's involvement on the Caravan Talk forum is "Commercial Gain" for Swift.

They have financially benefited from being involved on Caravan Talk.

So that makes it alright for Swift to sell another caravan and make profit from that sale, without giving something back?

Surely you would agree that by consistently offering help and advice on several caravan forums and by Swift paying the salaries of at least three dedicated members of staff to monitor these forums at all hours seven days a week Swift ARE giving something back?

Wow, this is some thread. If i can add ma tuppence worth and me being a newbie and all that. I recently bought our first caravan after many months of considering taking the plunge. Throughout those months i have visited and joined various caravan related forums so that i could gain as much knowledge in this field as possible. Speaking as a complete novice, i have been totally impressed when i logged in here and read loads of replies from these folks from the swift group to members queeries. Wow, what a set up, i am an active member in various bike forums as well, and i can assure you, we do not get the privilage of having personnel from Honda replying to the members posts and resolving problems. You guys have an avenue to gain knowledge and get answers from the horses mouth, jesus christ, respect that and be thankful ye have the opportunity to do so. If this was a bike forum you would have to pay a premier membership to gain access to anything like this facility. As for you Phil, ye make it quite clear ye are a hater, just dont post back and go elsewhere, let this rest, time to put it to bed.

Keep up the good work you all do swift group, and bailey and others who can afford the time to answer the members queeries, think you just need to look at the most of the replies to this post to see you are all valued.

Phil is as entitled to his point of view as you are to yours and I am to mine.

Members may well strongly disagree with his point of view or agree with it entirely and a forum exists to allow everybody to say what they want to say ( within reason!)

The overwhelming power of reasoned debate might win Phil over to a completely different viewpoint or his logic and dogged determination might win others to his point of view.

That's what discussion and debate on forums is all about so please lets stay polite and civil mate.

Higlander - "totally wrong there, they aint getting free advertising, theyre doing their best to help out others, even non swift owners"

Yeah and your bonkers if you believe that! ;0) No offense meant, it's just such and naive way of thinking and Swift's senior management and marketing know very well that they are getting a free plug!

Every time Swift Group comes up on the forum that is a free advert, auto sugestion, if nothing else.

I don't give a fig about how many times they get a freebie mention, to deny that they are getting a free ride is just laughable.

ps

Even if they made a charitable donation or offered a free comp prize now and again for the best post of the month or something at least they would be putting a little extra back for what they get.

And no! I would never be likely to win a prize ;0)
