A friend of mine in the pub at lunchtime, when I mentioned the cost of diesel, replied, What's Diesel, ? He had bought a New MG 4 EV, last year, my reply was, Double round on you then, 😅

A full tank of diesel would have been a treat when I get my new car, especially at that price!Sainsburys Wantage still lowering the price of diesel.....now £1.399/ litre
.....petrol £1.439/litre.
Is it really?Local Morrisons £1.54 6 miles away £1.44 now if like me that is a good saving when putting 50 Ltrs in your tank.

You must be really bored today, probably waiting to watch The Kings Coronation tomorrow. Is it really?
With the cheaper fuel a distance of 6 miles makes a round trip of 12 Miles.
How much does it really cost you to travel that distance? Not only do you use fuel to make the journey, you are increasing the wear and tear on the vehicle which is reflected in the servicing costs. Then there is the time it takes you go and get it.
It will obviously depend on your vehicle but if you only achieve 8 miles per litre (35.6MPG) that s 1.5L of fuel based on a current average of £1.546 per litre will cost you £2.32.
Excluding lumped costs of tax and insurance, most vehicles cost in the order of at least 10pence per mile in servicing and maintenance costs that £1.20
Add these values together gives an expenditure of
2.32 +1.20+5.12 = £3.52 to save £5.00 ! Thats a real saving of only £1.48. That's wiped out if you can't take the full 50L you specified.
I'd guess the time to journey to and from, and to fill up from the cheaper fuel will take a minimum of 30min or £5.12 of minimum wage, and what about the unnecessary use of a vehicle and the pollution it causes
It could be actually costing you £8.52 to make a £5.00 saving which could be a loss of £3.52!
Is it really going out of your way to make such slim savings?
Excellent mathematical progression Prof👏.
Where is his nearer fuel station? How much per litre?
Have I missed something🤔

That is the way I read it as then one can do shopping at same time so no extra fuel used. Wish our Tesco or Sainsbury was only 6 miles away. They are just over 10 miles away from us and nearest Morrisons almost 15 miles. We top up when shopping or if passing a service station where the price is really low.I read it his Local Morrisons is 6 miles away, like my local Tescos is 6 miles away.
