Hi Dave, That would not be allowed on this site, we *** it in the bud, playing area for ball games, not allowed near tourers or statics. I blame parents whot the heck we are on holiday let them anoy other people, no way. Liz
Chumba,

it'syour tone that is wrong. I have two kids and two grandchildren and all to my knowledge have not given cause for anxiety to otehrs when out playing. We are aware of other's feelings when we are out.

If my 3 year old Daughter takes a tantrum at 0730hrs, there is not much you can do about it. If I here someone elses kid nearby doing the same, I think to myself, WOW, I'm glad that's not mine and that's it. If she wants to play and make noise at 0730hrs, I wont be spoiling her fun and if anyone dared to say something about it, they would be told politely not to come back. And if they want to take the convo further then they will be talking to themselves. But balls and bikes have no place being near a caravan and my little Princess doesn't get to use them near ours.

If 2 or 3 year olds were awake at 7am I'm sure the vast majority of people would understand if they made a noise. If kids who are 14 or 15 make a noise at that time it's a different matter. They should know better and as we all know some kids don't so their parents should be on hand to put a stop to it, just don't count on it happening though. Some parents are there to enjoy themselves and don't give a monkey's **** about anyone else. What makes up for those morons is a polite well mannered child and they are always a pleasure to meet :O)

and can i ask how many children do you have that have never put a foot wrong and find the tone of your message to blunt for this forum
Chumba,

Have always found that saying what you mean is best. Children understand that.

The delight of this forum is that people are sufficently grown up to except that there is often an alternate view, even from people who actualy have children.

Sorry if thats a bit blunt.

In reply to this topic, which like other people have alreday voiced their opinions, I wonder if the caravan club should form a breakaway club for those people who do not like to see kids/children/teenagers enjoying themselves whilst away with their parents. I know that a football is not welcome banging into the side of your van or car, and indeed it is up to the parents to control their offspring, and indeed rules are rules but there is no need to vent off in this fashion.

We have been away in our van with our two young boys kept under control, and have had glaring looks, and curtain twitchers peering at us as though we were martians.

What do these people expect, and what do the caravan club expect ? Children kept on a lead, playing on the provided play equipment and not making any noise in case it upsets someone half a mile away.

So how do you eradicate this type of behaviour from irresponsible children and mindless parents ? GO TO A PARK WHERE CHILDREN ARE NOT WELCOME, THERE ARE PLENTY OUT THERE.

I think danny, you prove a very important fact here.

Its called the i,m all right jack syndrome!!!!!!!

You see i had 2 boys of teenager age and like you did notice

that at times some other park users did look uncomfortable

being parked near us, although my lads didn't ride bikes or

play football.

I found this very techinical idea that seemed to work 99% of

the time, its called talking to them introducing yourself to

them, making small talk, because i still think the mass majourity

of caravaners are not stuck up their own backsides and like to

make friends on site.

Your attitude on the otherhand is dame right unfriendly,or as

i said at the begining "i'm all right jack"

Most sites are for ALL users, and my i say that those who seem

to think its ok to instruct decent people to use only adults

sites, should start their own club and not try hi jacking clubs

that have been doing a good job for a century.

You could name the club, "i come first club" but then i am

sure the members would fall out with thenselfs pretty quickley.

It really doesn't come down to screaming tots in the early hours, rowdy teenagers kicking off at all times, curtain twitchers looking for something to whinge about, dogs dumping when their owners pretend not to see it, cars exceeding the site speed limits, boozy loud mouthed people shooting off their gobs into the early hours, dogs running loose with the owners putting up two fingers to authority, campers who go out of their way to avoid saying "good morning".

It all comes down to respect and respect for yourself. When you have that you can then earn respect from others enabling them to respect you.

⇦ doing the gangsta rap ..... "rispect da mon o yo's a gunna be popped". hehheh :OP

Danny wrote.....So how do you eradicate this type of behaviour from irresponsible children and mindless parents ? GO TO A PARK WHERE CHILDREN ARE NOT WELCOME, THERE ARE PLENTY OUT THERE.

The caravan club does not restrict its sites to either adults only or to families only. Danny's suggestion is totally impractical and it misses the point of the thread entirely. It seems some parents think that if anyone doesn't like their kids kicking a ball anywhere they want to then they can pack up and go elsewhere.

The essence of the thread is clear and the caravan club has not arbitarily created this rule but has decided on No Ball Games rule (except in play areas) as a sensible and reasoned response from members who are sick and tired of the damage caused to site and members property. As said before it is a very small minority of parents who think their children can do whatever they like, when they, like without a thought for other people on site.

We have CC warden friends and they have always said it is only the minority that spoil it for everyone else and they have personally been subjected to verbal abuse on more than one occasion, usually by parents who don't or can't control their offspring. These people seem to think that because they are on holiday their little cherubs can just do as they please.

I personally witnessed a lot of damage to the toilet blocks at Rookesbury Park last year and the wardens, who all take great pride in their site facilities, knew which children were to blame, but they could'nt prove it, and talking to the parents was a waste of time.

Sorry Danny but your attitude is the reason why rules are made and Adult Only sites are doing well. I just hope your attitude hasn't rubbed off onto your two sons ;O)

The issue has escalated here from Ball Games, Close to Caravans to lets have different clubs etc. Lets keep it the same, but work on the basis of Two Strikes and your out. Be it ball games, wrecking the toilets or excessive noise after say 11pm. It would be easy for the CC to cancel a membership then see how well behaved everyone becomes. Dare I say it " How it Used to Be "

Well what a can of worms this is, just like the one recently about dogs on sites and people who drive large 4x4's.

I'm all right Jack, pull the ladder up.

I dont think this is the case here, its you lot who should step off you soap boxes and have a look at yourselves.

People who caravan with young children are the ones who are bringing the future of caravaning forward and with comments like these will only put people off along with rules that are in bold black and white.

Yes I do talk to other caravaners and yes we are always friendly to other people whilst away and other people are always friendly back to us.

As to the reply from the Lord about my attitude and hope it hasn't rubbed off on my two son's I feel that is a personal attack on my myself and my family. Why has my attitude led to adult only sites ? Its not my attitude, its your attitude that has led to adult only sites because you feel children are unruly and vandalise the toilets etc. Tarred with the same brush is what you are looking for.

Last year at Bude I had the windscreen on my car broken from a stone thrown by someone, so I know first hand what its like to encounter unruly kids. In fact it was girls that were to blame for this so not all kids are the same.

I know we can go away and enjoy ourselves and I am not looking over my shoulder incase we have upset someone, other people should try the same, and thats not just people with kids. You know who you are.

And from your last comment I don't know why you bother going on holiday, you should just sit in a field somewhere on your own in the van and then maybe you will be happy. On secong thoughts 'what if a cow moos you might not like the noise'. Let me know your itinery for the year so I can make you we don't go where you do!!!Denise
Denise,

Please try to ignore some of the comments on this thread. Enjoy your Shogun Warrior, caravan and your three children. Having caravanned for 35 years, yes some children do misbehave, but the majority are well behaved. When you read some of the comments on this thread you ask yourself is it the children who are at fault or their parents!!

frank - I can't see the CC even reading this and other topics relating to the running of the clubs affairs. The club has a system for resolving problems outlined in this and other topics, and it is only by using those procedures that changes to rules etc. be considered and made. that is the only way that sanity can prevail in this modern society we live in. as my father used to say "oh for the good old days" IMHO and regards

hahahahaha... you should read both your previous posts.

how you contrudict yourself, or maybe you believe it was ok

that some kids broke your windscreen, or is it that you believe

all comments on this thread wre aimed solely at boys, and girls

to not qualify as kids?

You seem to take offence on the subject of peoples dislike of

unruley kids and the CC banning ball games!

This seems to mean to you that anyone who agrees with this ban

is anti children! It is not.

It is anti ruley children, and so my i take this oppertunity to

say that those like yourself who disagree with the ban must be

PRO unruley kids.

As there are no other options....

Its all gone silent......................
i thought the caravan club was classed as `the friendly club`

after reading the posts,i`m pleased i cancelled my yearly subscribtion, after all,the sites are more suited to those who dislike children or quite simply snobs!

however ball games should be kept away from the caravans, but not banned, what about frisbees, kites etc

stick with haven sites i say, lots of noise with kids having fun as they should be because they`re on holiday,id rather see and hear kids having fun than listening to dam dogs barking early in the morning or through the night.

just my opinion

Some of us have brought up todays caravanners already. In the good old day if an adult said to child that it as not a good idea to play in the toilet block, throw water from the water point or play around people vans and cars. Kids would have listened and respected the adult.

Now the adults can't even respect having their kids actions questioned and a few could do with a good slap along with their kids aswell! Who cares what type of site it is, no one wants to stop kids or adults having fun, but give a bit of thought to others re times and place!
