As a relative newcomer to caravanning (only our 2nd year), please could you tell me if its OK to use the caravan toilet during a stop in a journey? Normally we stick to motorways and use the service area facilities but would like to use more non-motorway routes when towing. Our only problem is, no service area, no toilets! Is it OK to tow with a small amount of water in the toilet flush tank, to use at stops? Will the toilet cassette suffer from having something in it after use whilst we're travelling? (Sorry if this is too graphic!) Many thanks. Pam

Absolutely no problem, do it all the time - just one tip, open the valve carefully and slowly on site after as pressure can build up and you don't want a nasty shower!

When we've got the caravan with us we always use our own toilet and never the service area toilet facilities even when we stop there. That way, no queues and always clean.

If you need to use the loo when on the motorway it is far better from a security point of view to use your caravan loo at the services, rather than leave your caravan unattended.

Also clean public loos are difficult to find.

Enjoy your caravanning.
