Our Air Awning ( Kampa) went bang in a spectacular fashion when the stitching failed and the bladder herniated. It was 8 years old and beyond economic repair. To be fair it had benn left up for weeks at a time on a seasonal pitch in all weathers. Something that was specifically not designed for.

If Attwolls can’t help, I can recommend Specialised Canvas near Chesterfield who resized a pole awning for us.

If Atwools can’t help ,
John at Canvasworks should be able to do it . He’s at Leigh 4 miles from me.
He works from home and has repaired a lot for me over the years.

With the Isabella. It looks like I can get a whole new centre beam for £160. And it simply zips in. So all is not lost. At the moment there is no stock. But there is no hurry.

Today was a breezy dry day. Managed to get the awning dry on the lawn and to examine the damage. Luckily we had a son in law and later a grandson arrive to help with the lifting and folding. I told my grandson I could not work as fast as him. That’s because you’re old he rightly said. Leave it to me. 😟

The double stitched seam has completely gone. The bladder has not burst, but it feels thinner where is herniated.

I wrote to Isabella explaining what had happened. I vainly hoped they would write back to say the would send a free replacement as the seam should not fail. Well, as expected that did not happen.

But I have just received this reply which is very prompt.

Hi John,

Thank you for your message.

The part you need is part number 9x0000126, which is the C/M tube for the Cirrus. This comes as a complete unit, including both the bladder and the outer sleeve.

It’s a simple process to replace:

  1. Lay the awning out flat on its roof.
  2. Disconnect the isolation valves and the front inflation valve.
  3. Remove the tube completely, leaving the old bladder inside its sleeve.
  4. Position the new replacement tube in place and reattach the valves.
The tubes are £159 including VAT. Unfortunately, they are currently out of stock, but are due back in mid-November.

If you’d like to order a replacement tube, please contact your local Isabella dealer or use Click & Collect on our website: https://www.isabella.net/uk/accessories/details/isabella-air-cirrus-tube-c-m

If you need any further help, please let us know.

Quite refreshing to get full prompt response from a company.

Is there any point in replacing the tube if the stitching has failed?

The tube (bladder) is stretched, so would be silly not to replace it. I could get the stitching replaced and reinforced. But it would not be cheap. Isabella only do a complete unit, bladder and sleeve including valves and connections. Quite a complicated shape. I think £159 is reasonable considering. And less worry afterwards.

I need the blue part.

What I meant is there any point in replacing it until the stitching has been sorted out? Will Isabella be doing the stitching?

No stiching needed. It is the sleeve that has failed. The new part comes with a bladder and sleeve.

Sorry, I must not have explained this very well in previous posts.

The tube is made up with a bladder inside a sleeve. It is the sleeve that has failed. My choices are. To have the sleeve repaired. Then to continue with a compromised bladder. Or, what I intend to do, get a new sleeve and bladder. In this way, no stitching will be needed.

Plus you get a brand new assembly which should be fine for a good number of years.
