Hi all,

All this silliness! funny costumes, strip dances! Drinking!

Well looks like I will be legless for the Easter event after all. AND I DON'T DRINK!

I will still be at the event, but I will probably be on sticks as it was decided yesterday that I need further operations on my legs. Scheduled for Feb with about 13 weeks on sticks.

So, sorry all. Unless there is a major change, the off roading is off for me during easter. I will still do it later if people are still interested.

Steve

PS, the wife is now very nervous as she has never towed before and the first time will be with our huge twin axle!!! So, she probably WILL need a drink
Hope it all goes well Steve.

That's a shame Steve - but I am sure the op will be worth it - Look forward to meeting you crutches and all!!

I mentioned what we had planned to a friend and he said that he may wish to come along - another RR owner - he has a "new to him" Trailer Tent he has just bought and is keen to try it out so Easter would be good timing.

So it may be possible to still do something - I intend to approach GLASS to get some info on the area and to also see if one of their guys would like to come along as I do not know that area well.

I know it is not till Feb but do let us know when you are going in.

Clive

keep me informed on the info from Glass. If the lanes selected are easy enough then the wife will drive our Discovery. If not then I will "encourage" my brother to join us and take me anyway.

A local Glass member would be a great idea, but if that is not possible I am sure we will find a local to help.

Same here Steve, hope it all goes well for you. Will this be the last op for you? Is there a chance you can get your wife towing before Easter, to build up her confidence? Where will you be travelling from, sometimes it's easier to follow another outfit to the site if you haven't been there before or are a little unsure of towing.

Hi LOL

No, will not be the last, but should reduce the need for more for a while.

We live quite close to the site, about 40mins with the van. I will get her to drive to and from the site without the van first to make sure she is happy then I will arrange for her to tow it on a quiet day off or 2. That way, she should be more confident when it is loaded up for the Easter event

I suppose I'd better explain that last comment as I wouldn't want anyone to take it seriously.

Please look in 'general' under 'travellers above the law' the comment is self explanatory.

Regards.

Lisa.

No need to explain Lisa, most red blooded men like women with no morals, or so I'm led to believe. In fact most red-blooded males like women with or without morals, so I'm led to believe. In fact, men with any colour blood like women, and blow the morals! IMHO (oh how I dislike that saying! Is it for legal purposes or something?)

Rest assured Clive, while I might start the odd thing or two; I rarely finish it, unless it's in a pint glass. SWMBO has got it correct, why put your van away for winter; in some respects it's the best time to use it. Un-crowded sites, beautiful scenery (especially after a deep frost) and the ability to store more in your fridge because your beer can be left outside! We will be down in the New Forest over New Years, Brian will be around too, why not try it as well?

I suppose we put it away out of habit - but a habit born of being under canvas.

No reason why we could not try it.

I think I will try a local site in the New Year. I allways like to have something planned - hence why I find the winter so depressing.

Good to hear you're coming down to the New Forest over New Year!

New Years Day we meet up as a group and walk arround the enclosure at Ogdens having had a drink at The Forestors. If you can take it after the Christmas excess - their Steak and Mushroom pie is superb.

Nice pint of Ringwood served there as well.

No I do not fancy that either - may just stick to local sites.

Not many roads seem to have been gritted of late - last night a young lad overtook a line of us old f*rts (we all seemed middle-aged) when you could see the road surface sparkling!

Next corner - woops! up on the bank knackerred front suspension. Nice little Corsa - prabably totalled. Having checked he was alright - we left him on his mobile to his Dad.

Morning folks

Any suggestions on a marquee or large tent as a meeting place, I have asked the editor a few times but no reply as yet.

Looking forward to the wine tasting and the easter eggs!

Looking forward to meeting you all, I think it will be a great laugh. (That's providing I manage to find the place, I'm renowned for getting lost).

A wry smile certainly! And young lads wonder why insurance companies charge them so much!

Thankfully it was not in a grown up area!

Another bit of stupidity - SWMBO has just phoned me to say that she was nearly hit by a close neihbour of ours this morning who was driving into the sun with a frosted windscreen!

Only my wifes and another cars despereate horn blowing prevented an accident. Apparently he got out with a silly grin but did not take kindly to being told he was a bl**dy fool!

What makes it worse is that his own children walk to school on the same road!

Beggers belief.

Having put up Marquees - They are a pain.

When we meet at Billing for the Land Rover do we have a "double Gazebo" that is put up in about 20 min's and down in about 10 min's.

Before we used this double one we straped a few together with cable ties and this formed a great meeting area. You can buy sides for them as well for if the weather is bad.

We have one from B&Q - cost about

Hi all, I've got a 6 berth frame tent buried in the garage somewhere, if we leave the bedrooms out it's quite big inside.

The only drawback is how long it takes to put up (remember anyone?) I'm just wondering how much the site will charge for all the extra "buildings"

Got to agree with you Clive about winter, I hate it too.

The van goes into storage and I start wishing my life away 'till spring.

Hi Lord B

OOOOOOOps, maybe they might give me directions but perhaps not to Lickhill Manor! Suppose I'll have to rely on RAC route planner again.
