Water pump not functioning

Hi All, I am in need of some help if possible. I have an Elddis Avante 540, 2015 touring van which I love. To date , only minor issues. However, after draining the system down for a frosty period and returning for a weekend break my Whale IC pump would not function. Fine, it was the IC circuit board that packed in. I replaced that and turned the water on as per the proceedings etc and it run for about 1 minute and stopped.

Nothing got it working again. I replaced the pressure pump ie the attachment I fit my external pump to at the side of my van. Still nothing. I thought it may be the external pump. However, I have two and none of them work. Checked all the fuses I could find. Run a power check with a multimeter. Power all good. I’m stumped. Anyone have suggestions. What might I have missed? Is there an inline fuse I am missing?

When you say 'run a power check' where and how , at the pins on the pump inlet or inside.? The pump/IC unit has to be calibrated to run correctly , if the pump doesn't take a high enough current ( as the pressure increases the pump current rises) and if it doesn't reach a certain value after a certain time it assumes a leak and switches off the pump. A lot of people have had trouble setting it up and some have thrown it away and fitted a simple inline pressure switch. When measuring the voltages, if you have power to the left hand two connectors on the IC unit ( negative LT and positive central) then the caravans wiring is OK . The IC unit may have detected a 'water leak' .Do you have the Whale ES8000 set up instructions in pdf format?

Hi Ian, thanks for getting back to me so promptly. I checked the +/— terminals on the IC unit and the voltage registered 13v. I have set it up with the correct calibration procedure as per the instructions. I can’t find a leak in any of the water pipes. I have noticed however the pump is registering as ‘on’ at the control panel (red bar). I wonder if I have an air lock somewhere.

I think (but I could be wrong, memory is getting old 🤔😂) if you move the positive from from the IC controller to the switched side this should induce the pump by bypassing the pressure switch, if it does then it could point towards the pressure switch or the IC gone rogue again. You can also test the pressure switch by removing the IC controller then the back plate of the water housing. Put test meter into continuity, put leads into switch terminal, activate the red button on the switch, you should get a beep )assuming you have audible set) if nothing then the switch is faulty.

If the pump LED is on then the IC unit is asking for the pump , so moving to the outside have you got 12V on the 'prongs' on the inlet assembly. if so then its the pump , if not then an internal connection from the IC unit to the inlet fitting is faulty. A quick check is to take the pump out of the aquaroll and try turning the impeller (you will need to take the blue strainer off the end of the pump) also 'wiggle' the connector whilst its in the inlet fitting. Also try cleaning the 'prongs' don't use emery paper , but a non abrasive pad like the those yellow/green foam pads used in kitchens.
