Not only did he manage to do 90mph in his first outing he also drove across a wet field to test the 4x4 system, thats what i call a real test!

Only thing i dont think he tested was the emergency stop to test the cars abs with the van on the back.

I can confirm that a Bentley Flying Spur does indeed make a good towcar.

No dedicated towbar is available however my local blacksmith on my country estate fabricated one for me as part of his serf retention process.

I am curently towing a 1972 10ft Sprite with it and the performance has been superb although i have found the noseweight critical particularly if i have used have a bottle of gas.

I would say " Just go for it" you will never regret it!!!!!

PS stop asking SFQ's

Regards Charles

Euro u are a rude person who needs to learn some manners. Why don't you contact a bentley dealer and see what they about getting you a towbar. when your spending that sort of money you get a high class service ie they get you anything you want on your car, I could have had both ski and bike racks as well as a towbar or are you going to dispute this as well as bentley owners shouldn't cycle similar to the fact that we shouldn't caravan according to you. As for the comment of me towing across wet grass considering I store my caravan at a local small caravan site which i basically just a field, that counts as me towing across wet grass or does that not count according to you mikey? You people all must be angels if you have never got distracted and went over the speed limit without realising. As for the whole its a lie thing phone a bentley garage, if you want a towbar they will get you one

Dah Dah Dah Dah Dah Di

I seem to remember readin above that someone posted

"witter do make a towbar for the flying spur however it is to special order and I dont know how the wiring would go"

Oh my! That was you 'caravanner' :0(

And why exactly would you have commented on not knowing how the wiring would go, when surely Bentley's fantastic service would deal with that.

I think the only rudeness here is your BULL SH 1 T tale caravanner.

Witter HO have been contacted and they stated that they do not make a special order or any other tow bar for the Flying Spur.

"You people all must be angels if you have never got distracted and went over the speed limit without realising"

You went 50% over the limit, not exactly a slight error of judgement.

If the 90mph was done on an A road which is 50mph then you were nearly double the speed limit,i wonder if that would work with the police"sorry officer just a slight error of judgement" i wonder what his response would be?

Sorry forgot to add why on earth would you use a Bentley to tow across a field to get your van out all the time, you have no ground clearance?

when i'v owned cars which were 1.8's i have managed to creep up to 85 on the motorway without even realising, anyone who says they haven't is talking rubbish, its easy to do when your overtaking. If there are any other owners of very powerful cars they will tell you that its easy to go very fast without realising as you barely touch the accelerator and they go. Also I would hardly class it as double the speed limit as when I had my range rover I generally towed at 70-75 which is what I try to stick to, and even when Im being a real criminal doing 75 with the caravan I get people flying past me with there caravans doing what must be 85+. Euro I would prefer it if you didn't post on this topic again as your are a very disrespectful person, If you think im a liar why get annoyed and use swear words in this post, just ignore it if you don't have something constructive to say. Also the 90mph was on a motorway not A road. And the flying spur has as good ground clearance as a mercedes e class so it is not really a problem

Surely if you were doing 90 on a motorway, then you would have noticed yourself flying past the numerous vehicles on the inside lane doing far less than that speed? I cant remember the last time I drove on a motorway and didnt see a lorry, which are usually limited on speed to 56 or 60 mph (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about that bit), you must have absolutley blown past them, didnt that ring alarm bells? unless of course the motorway was empty.

Sorry caravanner 90 mph is still 50% over the speed limit and a visit to court and with the van on the back you would expect a ban.

Ill try the "well everyone else speeds officer" and ill see how i get on.

Before this debate becomes even more heated it's best if everyone calms down and treats it as a small and potentially amusing diversion.

Let's face it, anyone who can write in a post on this forum that he 'generally towed at 70-75' and that it's what he 'tries to stick to' hardly deserves to be taken seriously or to command the respect of responsible caravanners.

Idiots like this simply get us all a bad name

No offence Parksey, but since you as a moderator seem to have the full measure of this fool, and given that the last thread he wound everyone up in was deleted. Why is he still allowed to post on this forum?

Im truly shocked at your ive done nothing wrong as regard to your speeding.

If you had a snake at that speed i dread the outcome!

Funny though i fear for the other people caught up in it.

Everyone speeds NO they dont i lost my best man to a speeder and have never sped again.

The only time i see people doing 85 with a van on the back is on Police Camera Action.

I feel very sorry for the people that you are speeding past as it will make their outfit unstable same as when a coach whizzes past.

Just keep thinking that and you will be ok.

I can see it in the paper now "70 year old caught doing 90 mph on the motorway towing a caravan"

Someone correct me if im wrong they would probably make you retake your test again as well.

As for your friend i bet he wasnt towing a caravan?

Hi Richard

This forum works on the assumption that posts submitted are in good faith and if a theory is advanced it is open to debate where it can be proven or disproved by members.

When a wind up merchant appears in our midst we follow the tried and tested 'Give them enough rope..' formula so a ban for being either an idiot or a Walter Mitty is not in order at this stage.

We watch what goes on though....

60 although there is a 10% margin of error with the cameras and guns therefore they would only charge you at 64mph which would never stand up in court

Parky's right, but why get heated up over what is a situation that never was.

"Everyone speeds NO they dont i lost my best man to a speeder and have never sped again."

Sad story, you are not alone on that score,Although your response seems to indicate prior to that sad incident you actually did speed, which contradicts your first line of response....LOL...

parksy I can assure I understand that some may think of my post as a wind up, but I dont think it very constructive some of the things which people have said eg using swear word I think its these people who should be banned "euro". As far as im aware i have tried not to offend anyone in anyway if haven't used swear words or offensive statements etc, i just asked a question if everyone thinks this post was rubbish they could have just ignored it and it would have gona away a long time ago
