Hereford Caravan & Camping club site

Hi Tobago What a useful post, as we're going to the same C&CC site this weekend. One of the Bailey Burgundies on site will be ours. Let's hope for good weather! Bry

    21st century caravan design

21st Century? Crikey, that takes us well into oil depletion and alternative fuels, maybe fusion-derived electricity, and probably smaller/lighter vehicles. If the caravan industry is to survive it's going to need you! Bry

Caravan Club magazine - addresses wrong. Don't panic!

The CC has missed the first character off some house numbers/names for the Feb issue of their mag. On their web site they are asking Mr Mainwaring not to panic or deluge them with emails etc as this will be put right next time. They know where you live! No snide comments about IT systems...

    the new bailey olympus

Since the Olympus has the bolt-together construction, are we likely to see it offered in flat-pack form? - along with the usual allen key of course...

Black bits in hot water ????

We used to get black bits rather like the occasional tea leaf in our old Ranger - cold water too. Running the taps for a while reduced the problem but we never put Milton etc into the system in case it spoiled the tea. We just fished the bits out as we spotted them - they're unlikely to do you harm.

    Al-ko ATC System

It senses a snake by an accelerometer, not by comparing wheel speeds. The device can sometimes be felt working when leaving a roundabout, especially if road camber changes - the left+right change of direction mimics a sway. You notice a slight hesitation as the van brakes come on for an instant.

    CLING FILM ?

Have you noticed that clingfilm isn't as clingy as it was years ago? Until about 8 years ago it contained something (plasticers I think) which could migrate into food and also into the plastic of caravan windows. A sort of micro-crazing of the windows could result. Didn't do much for your...

If your wheel came off let me know here.

Our year 2000 Bailey had steel wheels and came with a set of nut indicators. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wheel_nut_indicators.jpg But you had to remove the wheel trim to see them... The only locking or anti-turning devices I've seen are for heavy vehicles with large wheelnuts. Bry

    Kampa Rally 260

We bought the 260 version plus the optional upright poles that hold the sides to the caravan. Used it on all our trips this year while deciding which full awning to get. As a result we've decided not to get a full awning at all - the porch is roomy enough for two adults plus a couple of...

    Nissan X Trail

Ah - so it's the oil that has to be kept flowing, rather than a cooler gas stream through the turbo. That explains my alpine worry nicely - thanks. Bry

    Nissan X Trail

OK - so you should idle a turbocharged engine before switch-off. But what happens when you've driven your petrol-engined car (plus caravan) up an alpine pass and start to descend the other side? The throttle closes (it's petrol remember, and on the overrun the throttle closes completely) so...
