Mains socket wiring. If it seems wrong then it probably is.

Paul, just realised that you are probably referring to Ray's servicings. The above is just about the one that I did.

Mains socket wiring. If it seems wrong then it probably is.

Unfortunately the servicing book was completely blank. No-one had previously stamped it up or signed for a servicing being carried out. The owner did have the bills of course but I didn't get to see them.

Mains socket wiring. If it seems wrong then it probably is.

Hi Ray If you go to the Mobile Caravan Engineers Association (MCEA) website, then you can find a mobile engineer near to you. Many members are ACOPs gas, City & Guilds or NCC Approved Workshop qualified, and all work is guaranteed. Blimey that sounds like an advert...

Mains socket wiring. If it seems wrong then it probably is.

Ray A servicing includes fully checking the integrity, safety and operation of the mains system, including earthing, bonding and polarity. The 12v system should also be fully checked, not just the road lights. If this isn't being done, then the servicing isn't being carried out properly.

Mains socket wiring. If it seems wrong then it probably is.

I've just serviced a 2004 Bailey Champagne. The mains socket in the kitchen would not work unless the space heater master switch above it was turned on. The owner thought that this was normal so hadn't done anything about it. The workshop that serviced it last year picked up on it but didn't fix...

Todlers sleeping arrangements - can anyone help

Hi John We used a dropdown bed guard, as you would use on a normal bed. The arms that would usually be held secure by the weight of the mattress were tied to the bed slats instead. Here's an example of what I mean: http://www.safetots.co.uk/211.htm

    Radio / CD Fit

Hi Howard You can use virtually any car CD/radio in a caravan, so look at Argos and Halfords for the best offers. Many come with remote controls and MP3 player sockets, which may also be useful. Most car radios will come with a standard metal D housing. This is basically a thin metal frame...

    Blinds Up or Down

Personnally I prefer to leave the blinds up. Mold and damp love it when it is dark and cold. So we leave the cupboard doors open and the blinds up to let the light and warmth in. Winter sunshine isn't really going to have a great affect on most furniture but if you are worried then take the...

    Winter caravaning

Hi Julie, I would have thought that standing it on a wooden grid would have had the opposite effect, as it now allows freezing air to circulate under the Aquaroll. When it's on the ground it's protected from the wind and the consequent chill factor.

    Towing Mirrors

Hi Bill I've just copied the following from: http://www.mmleisure.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=sect&pt=522&s=1093&id=mmleisure The law relating to mirrors when towing a caravan states that they must provide an adequate view to the rear and along both sides of the caravan, making them a legal...

    Alko hitch lock - keys

Hi Lisa As far as I know, the only way to get a replacement is through Al-Ko. Go to the following web page and see AL-KO Secure Lock Registration in the bottom right. http://www.al-ko.co.uk/vt-home.htm

    Towing Mirrors

Hi Steve. I used to have mirrors that were held on with a rubber strap, but on my last car one of the mirrors actually sheered off as I was strapping it on due to the force required. So when we changed the car last year for a Sharan, I also changed the towing mirrors, as they didn't fit too...

Thetford C4 loo leaking - help!

Dan, are you sure it's coming from the bowl itself? It could be coming from the flushing tank. Try looking around the bottom of the tank with the cassette removed and see if it's wet. Have a feel around if necessary. Alternatively there may be a crack in the cassette itself. You should be...

    Acceptable moisture levels

Hi Keith. Just looking at the Desivent. I'm not sure that it would actually work correctly. All that it does is check the moisture in the air, not in the actual caravan structure. So this won't prove anything. If it's a damp day then it's probably going to read in the red. Damp in the...

Just to add to Glenice's recommendation, it's a Beefeater. You can get more information from their website: http://www.beefeater.co.uk/
