I am happy to do the arranging for this time. Lisa and Roy did it last year and we should rotate it round so everyone gets a go or a break!. But I will need some help with a few things.

Do we still have the marquee?

I will look for a midlands venue probably south of Birmingham to make it central to everyone. I will start looking in a couple of weeks so that I have an idea of size. How about Stratford as there is loads to do around there?

Also, again this year we will ask the mag to get involved a little, with a little luck the new staff will not be so stuck up and will offer to join us in some way.

My son (12) and I would be interested. Towards the middle of the country would be better for us as we are up in Newcastle upon Tyne. Never taken the caravan further than Nottingham, so so it would be an adventure if the car makes it!

Hi Steve ,somewhere south of Birmingham would be ideal for us as Bina is getting a bit old for long journeys now ;O) also somewhere close to places of interest would be a bonus.

Nice to see some new names showing an interest as well. It looks like this meet is shaping up to be bigger and better than the last.

Last year I suggested Lickhill Caravan Park in Stourport and every one seemed to enjoy it especially the green laning. You could try Tudor Caravan park at Slimbridge which is very nice and there is a pub adjoining the field.

Alternatively there is Redstone Caravan Park in Stourport which has a licenced club on the premises with a playground for the children. Can't really recommend the abulutions but it is well managed, clean and reasonably priced even on bank holidays. Wherever you decide I would suggest booking as early as possible.
 
since when was "south of Birmingham" central for the UK??

or does this invitation not extend north of the border?

See your point Mark but I think it is central to those who had already shown an interest.

Last time Lutz made it from Germany so it should be easy from North of the border ;O)

Thanks for your suggestions, but Redstone doesn't open till March, so may not be open at Easter?

Tudor has a minimum of 3 nights stay over Bank Holidays, I presume the rally is only for 2 nights?

For Easter it would be min three nights Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday, I presume most people would vacate on Easter Monday.

Has anyone stopped on a Forest Holidays site? Just wondered what they are like. Sounds good for children and dog owners.

Also, is it strictly necessary to be on a rally field as when we stopped at Lickhill, we didn't get a special rate for the Bank Holiday, we got a special rate for any extra days either side of it.

How about somewhere in the Notts area? Sherwood Forest perhaps? I think "south of Birmingham" may be ok for those who live down that way, but it's a fair old trek for someone "up north". Somewhere in the Midlands, Staffs, Derbyshire, Notts region may be better perhaps.

I will probably get my legs smacked for this comment now!! - oh well!!

Now you're talking. I'm afraid though, Derbyshire is out for us.

Sherwood Forest is ok, went there in June. Pitches are a bit regimental though. The shop sells caravan stuff at a really competitive price.

I think I may have suggested this one before.So sorry if I have,try Riverside CP at Stratford,underfloor heated toilet block,boat taxi into town,pleasant walk if you want it into town club on site,also bowling club with bar at entrance and good pub with food in the village.You will need to book early as it is popular especially at bank holidays,dont book as rally only as group caravanning together otherwise you could end up on rally field without EHU also Margaret would require copy of an exemption certificate.

We are off to Sherwood Forest Holiday Park, near Edwinstowe, Mansfield for Halloween and a Murder Mystery Weekend in November at the same site.

Is this the site you speak about?

It was just a thought as we travelled down that way for this years meet. It's a long way for you lot "up north", especially if you have kids! I think something more "central" would be the best idea.

Yes, that's the one we went to. We were blessed with glorious weather, it's a nice site but I just felt the pitches were a bit close together. Having said that, we didn't hear our neighbours.

I darn't say too much about Derbyshire because I don't want to upset anyone. We've stayed at a couple of sites and it just seems such a grey place. Sorry Derbyshire people (my gran and father were from Derbyshire by the way, so I'm not racist).

Please don't take offence "the plotter" but I think Riverside is a tadge bit expensive? they also charge different amounts for single and twin axle vans, and the pitches look a tadge bit cramped.

We are off to Chatsworth Park for Xmas this year, loads have people have told us it's a great site, have you been there?

Its all a matter of opinion but they never seemed close together to me and of course they have to be a set distance apart to comply with regulations,in any event if there is a group of you would it matter if they were anyway.Its a good site with plenty around to visit etc such as Stratford itself,Charlcotte Park,golf courses and an enormous market at Wellesbourne airfield which is also home to an old Vulcan bomber that you can go in the cockpit of.

I haven't stopped there myself, however, I've only heard good reports of the site. Is it just your family going or are you going with friends? I'm sure you'll have a great time. I've looked into going away at Christmas but for the past two years, I've been quite ill at Christmas, maybe next year.

How are your dogs? I've got to get a cage cover for Gaylord.

Hi again,just had a look at the picture of the tourer area on the parks directory,they do look close dont they but fear not if you are into photography you will know that the picture was taken with a telephoto lens(zoom) which will always forshorten the view making it appear squashed up,take it from me they are not that close.As regards price if you ring and talk to Maragret and can book early for a block booking I am fairly confident you will be able to cut a deal.

We are going alone, but a couple of friends are coming over on Boxing Day and hopefully staying the night.

The dogs are great thanks, how is Gaylord? what sort of cover do you need?

We have said over the years that we would go away for xmas, and this year we finally got round to it. Hope you have a good time if you decide to go!

How is Emma? & what van have you got now?
