Pleased you had a great time in spite of weather
Yep,
We got there early pm on the Saturday, set up including the awning and within 10 mins the heavens opened and the rain didn’t stop until early morning.
Out in the car on the Sunday and it rained on and off with us dodging the showers and then around 10 pm it came down in biblical fashion and didn’t stop until 4am …. There’s something oddly satisfying being in the caravan ( it’s called Doris by the way) nice and warm/dry when it’s lashing it down outside.
The rest of the week we played cat and mouse with the weather - highlights of the week were the visits to Chirk Castle and Conwy Castle, and rather selfishly for me, the drive both ways along the A4212 from Bala to the A470…. As a biker for more years than I care to mention I found myself wanting to get on a bike and do it both ways.
Bikes I have owned include:
BMW 1150GS, 2 x 1100RT, 1 x 1100RT, 1 1100R and a brief flirtation with a Harley Softail Heritage.
I reckon I have covered north of 130k miles easily and loved every minute of it.
Here’s me on the 1100R…

The A470 is our favourite route to North Wales. Not a fast drive but a classic one.

I was at school in Keswick as a boarder for 3 yrs (76 to 79) and loved it.
Climbed Scafell Pike 3 times and most of the other fells too - we had a nutter for a PE teacher called Mr Roberts - he used to make us run up Latrigg in PE lessons.

I love it so much up there that I took my fiancee up there to get married in 2003.

Happiest days of my childhood by far.

We lived up there for three years and loved every minute. Even did the Keswick to Barrow charity dash three times. Now an official member of the Order of the Mad Dog ! The work wasn’t bad either 👍

In my class at school were twin girls…. Their father was Joss Naylor the farmer and amazing fell runner…. We were out fell walking snd he came bounding round the hill like a mountain goat with his border collie…. Made it look effortless.

Thanks for the great pictures. Previously Living in Liverpool and Runcorn, Cheshire and North Wales were our stomping grounds. Most of the pictures are of places we know well.

Here’s a few photos taken whilst we we staying at the Back of Beyond site in Dorset.

We do like to explore and I do love a bit of history and taking a few photos ( all using my IPhone 11.)

Me too.
You wouldn’t know it by looking at the Corfe Castle photos but it was heaving when we went- I spent quite a while waiting for the right opportunity to take snaps without the hoards of invaders in them - same at Kingston Lacy House which is an amazing property.

Great pictures. Who needs a camera? Brought back memories we have been to most of those places.

Hi John,

Thanks.

I used to cart a camera all over the place with me but got fed up and with phone cams now being so good I just use my I phone 11.
Before we go to a site I'll normally set up a new gallery on my Smugmug page and then as I'm taking the photos I'll upload them directly to that gallery whenever I get the opportunity to use free wifi at a coffee shop or other places - this keeps the memory space free on the phone.
I also very rarely tweek the photos - if I do I just use the edit function on the phone itself.

God bless the delete button too otherwise I'd have thousands of photos of the floor, my feet, thumbs, blurry skies et al.

I see you are in Gloucester - we're not too far from you as we live nr Burford.

Just looked at Smugmug and I am impressed. Clearly a place for professionals, but a great storage place for ammeters as well.

But I already pay for iCloud and Amazon.
Both are good but have advantages and disadvantages. They both have much room for improvemnt. The reason I pay for both is Photos comes with Prime. And iCloud helps to tie together iPhones and iPads. (And a Mac when I am aloud to get one).

If you are considering a MAC have a look at the MAC Mini. I bought one three years ago and it’s so adaptable that I can’t see me going back to an IMac. I matched it to a Dell monitor and the total package cost less than an IMac with much enhanced capability. It’s sufficiently compact that I can take it with me, providing I can use a screen somewhere.

That is definitly on my list.

My present desktop is an Acer 'all in one' with 23 inch touchscreen. I updated it with an SSD drive which I had to shoehorn in. But after 12 years is still works fine and fast enough. It manages Win 10 pro but that is the limit.

An Apple would work so much better with two iPads and two iPhones. But it is hard to justify when the present Acer gets little use.
