I'm no expert but we are insured through them too. Best quote by a long way.
You only find out how good they are when you make a claim.

As we do not know what is included in the cover you mention, I doubt anyone on teh forum can provide you with a copper bottomed answer.

You should be able to use the internet to look at the policy details from rival companies and make your own mind up about the level of cover.

What I will say is that the two clubs policies are specifically designed for caravanners, and some of the finer details may not be replicated in non specialist policies.

We are often tempted to look for cheaper cover from different company, but cheapest is not necessarily best value. Whilst you can relatively easily compare policy documents, what is more difficult to ascertain are things like how effective the company is when it comes to dealing with a claim.

just as it has been said, you only really know how good insurance is when you make a claim, some of the cheaper ones can be incredibly good and some expensive ones, incredibly poor, it pays to read the schedule very carefully.

as general rule if I am forced to have insurance I usually opt for the cheapest, but if I want to insure something voluntary usually opt for the best cover.

this may sound odd but, it is to do with regulation if you have to be insured like say on a car or motorbike, there will be safe guards built in, like minimum cover, the difference is in the extras like excess and ncb cover or damage caused by your own fault, if you make a claim and some one else is to blame then it is their insurance that pays. so why pay over the odds.

however on the other hand if it is not compulsory say pet cover or personal items, there is no regulation in place so you are only protecting your own investment and therefore it is worth seeking the best cover for the cost involved.

caravans come into the second category so it is worth getting the best one you can find.

and yes I used the CC insurance, and recovery, as they seemed the best.

I have just renewed my van insurance, (1st Sep) I went on a compare site and was offered £97 on one, even offered £169 new for old, thought they were to cheap, would not have had confidence in thire ability if I made a claim. . Renewed with CC thire price is about mid range and as was said earlier thire insurance is tailored for caravans.
