Auto all the way. If you get the flappy paddle option, the are even better.
Auto especially when match to low boost petrol turbo that produces 100% torque at 1500, my 1.4T Vitara. Spends most of time < 3000rpm even towing caravan and rarely feel need to override auto with paddle shifts.
Also regularly drive auto non turbo 1.6 Vitara. Just has to look at slight rise in road and auto kicks down so its doing 4000rpm. That is with gentle foot and lightly loaded. Definitely engine that would work better with manual gearbox

When our grandson had his Tesla Y it was a very slow speed for manoeuvring and I didn't notice any juddering. His PHEV 5 Series and daughter's Corolla hybrid are similarly smooth at crawl. Effectively they are CVT-like. My Kia petrol with DCT isn't, nor was my Skoda diesel with DSG. Neither are/were as good as a manual with clutch where I had control of slippage and the benefit of an old fashioned parking brake lever.
