What's for dinner on Christmas Day?

Not fussed on gammon although I do prefer it to turkey. Christmas morning breakfast is smoked salmon, scrambled egg, mushroom and a slice of home made bread.

I wouldn't touch smoked salmon with a barge pole, have you seen the conditions those fish are farmed in.

Sadly that array of "red traffic lights" has to be a memory these days, good memories but something I really should not have indulged in, good though as they were at the time.

They're ok in moderation - I had a lovely All-day Breakfast at my local Greene King pub today - sausage, bacon, beans, eggs and croquette potatoes - sadly no mushrooms of black pudding - I do though keep my cholesterol down below 3 with a high oat diet of a large portion of porridge every morning and a large flapjack every evening!

Hopefully those farmed in the North Atlantic are fine? I agree ,the salmon farms I’ve seen are reliant on a lot medicines to stave off all,sorts of parasites 🤮

We'll be meat-free - my wife has been vegetarian for many years so I go along with that most of the time - so probably a festive nut roast for the day itself.

Strangely for a vegetarian, my wife loves the smell of bacon on campsites but no chance of me having that in the caravan!

Normal for me at Christmas would be a Nut Roast however it takes C the best part of a day to prepare and cook. Unfortunately time is against that this year😟

I am trialing various Christmas puddings at present, couple of individual ones a week, not made up my mind yet which one is best

By choice breakfast would be Arbroath smokey , second place haddock kedgeree, and third a proper kipper, but reality is it will likely be porridge as for nearly every of the other 365 this leap year.

I use to like porridge but no more but I do like kippers nice with bread and butter

Those three bird roasts are good value for money. When we stopped eating the turkey only roasts we tried them for a couple of years, but have not bought one for the past several years.

We usually have a home made Christmas Pudding but circumstances have prevented Mrs V from making one this year.

I like it with custard poured over. The consistency has to be just enough to be able to have a spoon stand up in it. Regrettably I'm the only one who thinks this is how real custard should be so it's somewhat rare.

The three bird roast has Turkey ,Duck & chicken fillet but i have never had duck before does it give it favour .

I don't think I have ever had a an American style breakfast with waffles and maple syrup. Here we have pancakes as dessert. However we do have those Birds Eye waffles for breakfast on weekends, but they don't look anything like those thick looking pancakes the yanks make for breakfast.
