    2003 Abbey GTS Vogue 418

I have had 2 Abbeys with grp sides and was very pleased with both. No problems despite plenty of use. The side may not have the full gloss of tin but are dent free and will not scratch as they are self coloured. I wish you could still get them.

    LandRover Freelander TD4 04/04 Reg

I had a TD4 which towed well but reliability was poor so bought a Honda CRV 5 years ago. It never went wrong so just bought another.

    Honda CRV or Toyota Rav

I have just sold a CR-V 2.2 Diesel Exec. that I bought new 5 years ago. It was totally reliable, never went wrong, held its value well, could have sold it several times over. It towed 1400KG all over europe with out any problems including several visits to the alps. Towing limit is 1500KG and...

    Caravan Cover. Good/Bad idea?

I had a Purple Line cover which was cheap but useless. It quickly degraded and when wet easily rips. Covers can be good but you need to pay for a quality one. Some companies do them that cover the roof only so there is no risk of window damage.

Dent - To repair or not to repair.

A good repair should not be visable when done. Another option depending on where the dent is would be to fit an awning light that is the same type as the nearside. They are extremely usefull on the offside for pitching in the dark and when you run out of water. Some manufacturers fit them as...

    Abbey Aventura 340 2006

Abbey are part of the Swift Group so parts are readily available. This van will have single sheet GRP sides with no joints, it is stronger than aluminium, is dent free and self coloured and is repairable. It may not have the full gloss of tin but is a better material for sides.

    Airstream Caravans

I agree with you but to be fair they look much more impressive in America and Canada especilly when you see a convoy of 'streamers'enjoying life to the full. Next to US trailers and 5th wheelers even Airstreams look good and it is a shame that the european interiors lack the quality and style of...

    End bedroom caravans

A Swift Challenger 490 would be ideal for you. Challengers are the industries bench mark and are well sought after second hand. You would not have a problem reselling and parts and trim etc are easily available from many outlets. However with any van that is used look out for signs of damp at the...

    Bailey Interiors

I believe that the GT60 has already been replaced with the more expensive Olympus which also replaced the slow selling Pagaent, and the Ranger is being replaced in June/July with what presumably will be a down spec. Olympus. Bailey feel the Alu tech system is the way forward for them. Discounts...

    Swift Charisma Table

Try O'Leary Motor Homes near Beverley, they buy from Swift and others surplus trim, spares and tables etc and sell them at competitive prices. Your other option is a caravan breaker.

    auctions

There are a few good vans but when ever I have been they are in below average condition or have been poorly repaired following accidents. Also many flood damage ones are belived to pass through auctions. They are mainly used by the trade to get rid of poor stock rather than replace stock...

Availability of New Body Parts (Swift) Question for Andy & Ash

Sorry to hear about your van. You may find your insurance company will make a total loss payment and if you have new for old you would get a new van. When you say a new side is needed what usually happens is that a new outer skin of aluminium is bonded onto the repaired side in a press. You will...

    Alco wheel lock

The Bulldog Max is easier to fit as it has no wheel specific segment but had to be withdrawn from the market due to a legal despute with Alko as it used their receiver. The result seems to be that insurance companies now only recognise the Alko and will usually give a discount of between 5 and...

    Pegasus 524

Hopefully Swift and other will not use the same method of construction until it has been fully tested by owners. It may prove to be very good but there is a cold bridge at the joints where condensation will likely form. There may not be any wood in this area but at present the affect on the glued...

    Stealth Caravan

The layouts may appeal if you want to use it as extra sleeping accommodation at home and can hide it behind some shrubs! The bed design and good bathroom would be good but at the price an extension would be cheaper.
