I think you would have to buy the whole thing. I found this on the web
I think you will find that’s the wrong one, the correct one should be as my previous link as sourced by production number, and it matches the one in the OP’s pictures 🤔

And the extension tube is available https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19630433...e=1&gbraid=0AAAAADihhqXqjmGpzgjqKafC_FUyzdDTv as an example cheaper may be available

Martin_E I was replying to borderbilly not the OP. Borderbilly showed the a picture of the battery type drilled out to get at the battery. I agree with you that the OP has the piezo ignitor which either he not pushing hard enough or its jammed

I see what looks like the side of an AAA battery in a gap. See previous video and side view photo below.
Rating plate says:

Hi Tel
Apologies for the delay in getting back to.

Please everyone , can we be very clear my and Tel’s are both battery igniters NOT anything else!

See my previous posts which cogently explain the problem and resolution even down to buying a whole replacement unit at the discounted price of £55.19.
#10, #15 and #24.

Tel,
May I assume you are trying to rotate the metal canister clockwise? It only turns 90degs and then pulls out.
If the battery is so badly corroded within the housing then a new unit will be your only option. Good luck!

How’s Borderbilly’s popcorn going😉

Thanks again DD,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, as I've been a bit busy, but...
Good news: I was able to remove the housing with the battery last Saturday, by rotating the housing clockwise as you have suggested. I've brought the AAA battery + holder home to work on, and have separated them now, and will try a new battery next time I'm at the caravan (weeks or months from now), so hopefully I won't need to replace the igniter.

I might go into more detail later to help others who may have the same issue, but meanwhile, I have some questions about your post above, DD.

In case I ever want a replacement igniter, where can I get that discounted price, and what do you mean by "#10, #15 and #24"?

Thanks.

Prices seem to change daily. Let Google do the work😉
If the battery hasn’t corroded the assembly hopefully you will not need a new one.

Thank you all for all your advice, especially DD, and sorry for the delay in closing this off.

Further to my post #60...

I was able to remove the whole igniter unit. With the control cover off, I juggled the igniter unit until it came loose and could be removed. I think some kind of sticky stuff made it resistant to moving. I then unplugged the earth(?) wire from it (spade connector), so I could pull it out further (though it still had some wires connected), and used pliers (with tape over the silver metal battery housing) to twist it then it came out.

As predicted by some of you, the battery was corroded, swelling it and making it a very tight fit in its housing. Penetrating fluid (well, CRC 5-56 at least) didn't seem to help get it out even with pliers. I guess I could have drilled it out, but instead, I slid a washer on to the battery, that had a hole just big enough to fit over the battery, but not over the 2 little 'wings' of the battery housing. I then poked the battery through a hole in a bit of wood which was too small to allow the washer to fit through, and used large pliers to pull the battery through the washer and wood, removing it from its housing. It took a lot of force, but levering the pliers made it easier.

The battery was flat (voltage wise). I cleaned up the inside of the housing, replaced the battery, and put everything back together, and the fridge started and ran well, so we lived happily ever after...
...until the next time we visited the caravan, when the igniter worked fine, and I could hear the gas light up, but every time I try it I think it just goes out, because the fridge doesn't cool. I opened a new question here about this, and now I have to work out what advice to take there.

It is fairly clear that the fridge has not been used on gas for some time, hence the damage to the battery. I'd guess the previous owners probably only used mains power when on site, and 12V operation when towing.

To avoid the same problem I'd suggest removing the ignitor battery when the caravan isn't being used. I hope th e most recent problem is resolved quickly and safely.

I have blob of non setting caravan mastic which when applied to the button gives more traction , I tried plumbers mate but it was too gooey. Also you may need to clean the contacts on the removable battery holder if the battery has weeped , don't use emery cloth as it will take off the electroplating and its been worn off then you can get a 'nickel pen' which will deposit a layer of conductive nickel which helps provide a good contact
