When you appear to be the only sane one and you feel that there are "so many narrow minded people" around you, it's time to sit down, look at yourself and wonder why you are one of a very small number sharing a certain opinion.

As for Mike, as I can't stand up I was taking your advice before you gave it! Well sitting down anyway!

I'm not ashamed to expect what I pay for and Liz and others are more than pleased to offer the service.

Somebody needs to give Brit caravanners a kick over what they put up with and I've always shown a pioneering spirit and a little education from a minority never hurt a majority ;-)

Lord B. - You have not got a halo and the fact that you are out of jail concerns me. But there, these so called cash for peerage Lords can get away with murder. Next thing he will tell us that he is also a Freemason. Cor the mind boggles how some people can be so open fronted and not have any feelings for others.

Cris I do not remember the WRACs as ground sheets because I am too young, but I do admire your sense of humour.
 
Cricky Lord B. you have a very narrow outlook on life if you do not find a discussion on the pros and cons of aluminium/iron steps or sink drainers interesting. What do you think of that can be of more importance?
 
I didn't realise that a mop and bucket meant so much, I have just read the previous replies to this topic, 71 replies nearly catching up with no ball games on site topic. I am still trying to compose myself after reading some of the replies. The only things I find in the showers is maybe a odd sock etc or a empty shampoo bottle, that reminds me, empty shampoo bottles left in showers O no not again.
 
Liz are you forgetting the great 4x4 debate and also the discussion regarding that well known insurance company? Nothing will compare to those two topic areas. This topic area is very tame to the heated slanging matches under those headings. At one time I thought we were all going to have a red card from the moderators and all be banned. Still life goes on as they say in Wales.
 
No I have not forgotten, but you cannot compare 4 x 4 debate, or insurance against, debate with a mop and bucket, you have to get priorities in order.
 
You only have to disagree with a few here and they are off and rolling faster that they could twirl a mop in a greasy pole jousting competition.

I'm a dab hand with a mop as well ;-)

We use a wet and dry cleaner for washing and cleaning tiled floors at home, it's so much better and far more hygienic than a mop and it's dry to walk on in an instant.

I think on second thoughts that all sites you offer that facility, what do you think ?
 
I have changed my mind I do not want a mop available and do not want to clear up my own mess.

As said we pay close? to hotel rates and I believe this should be taken further, my suggestions are;

1. Wardens to empty waste and elsans daily and keep water topped up on visitors vans

2. Staff to pop in and tidy the caravan during the morning and pop in during the evening to make the beds.

3. If staying for a week or more the outside of the van should be cleaned.

For some reason I can not remember why I enjoy camping so much any more!

Isn't it something about doing it for yourself and having consideration for your surroundings and other campers?

Ive no problem voting for those changes with the exception of #3 .... I would like to see that ammended to............

3. If staying for a week or more, or after it's rained, the outside of the van should be cleaned by the sites ancillary staff.

I think you need to choose which service:-

Full Super Service (which includes your own personal chambermaid fully equipped with mop and bucket)

Standard Service (mop and bucket not included.)

Normal Service Self service

Does that mean that people on CC and other sites who have always seemed pleased and offered thanks the many times I've used my size and bulk often aided by large wife and kids to help them manouvre their vans were just humouring us and help erecting troublesome awning in the wind should be frowned upon.

Or may be we've made a mistake by gathering peoples washing that's been blowing away, picking up a range of tables, chairs, drying racks, waste containers or toys when the wind gets up and they are away from the van.

Or also using my selection of spare awning pegs and straps to prevent others awnings and caravans getting damage and even donatig them to the seemingly thankful fellow caravanners.

We've also taken down at least three damaged awnings and helped clear up broken awnings for people struggling in bad weather. The last time two years ago in Eire when tents and awnings were trashed at three in the morning.

I also guess running and standing with my back to a large caravan holding it back on a slope as it headed towards a stream as the owners looked on in horror as it rolled away as they had not applied the brakes pales in all significance to mop duties!
