Sir Kopite are you ever sober???????????????????
The red pointy thing is for resting your port glass on
The funny looks are for the fact when you are bent over emptying the cassette it's the builders bum they dont like
Singing at midnight-----shouted at--------YOU CANT SING, well out of tune

Due to a flood and asbestos issue at home as per my post under "General" it now appears that our house may not be ready for occupation for several weeks and we may not be able to make the rally. They are busy de-contaminating it and this alone will take several days. We were hoping to move back in after Easter, but that idea is fading away rapidly.

My14 year old lad is getting twitchy that there won't be any other yoofs at stowford. Just so that I can shut him up, anyone else taking a teen? I am also keen to be able to get rid of him during the rally.

Stowfolot directions say:-Directions to Stowford
Leave M5, Exit 27, then follow North Devon Link Road to Barnstaple then A39 (for Lynton) through Barnstaple town centre. One mile from Barnstaple turn left onto B3230. Turn right at the garage, at Lynton Cross, onto the A3123. Stowford Farm Meadows is 1½ miles on the right, down its own private drive.
For those who are towing a caravan, we do not recommend the A399 route to Combe Martin from the North Devon Link Road. For those who choose to take this route or who do so in error, be careful to avoid the signs to ‘Stowford’ on the left hand side, near the Exmoor Zoological Park.

What's wrong with the A 399?It's much shorter , ok , a bit hilly. Have I missed something??

Meant to add - One assumes they know what they are talking about - I've been before, but a few years ago now, ( 1997) and can't rember the route taken.

My mum has lived near Barnstaple for 35 years and the traffic is awful and the roads are quite congested. Surely the "short cut" well signposted BTW can't be that bad??

I definitely wouldn't recommend using the A 399 by turning off to avoid Barnstaple before the ring road Dustydog.
smiley-undecided.gif

It looks shorter in terms of distance but the road is steep, very narrow in places and there are some very sharp bends so although the road via Barnstaple appears to be slightly longer in terms of distance the route shown is ok for caravans with no problem areas.
Pick up the Hospital signs on the ring road, and after you pass the hospital on your right you turn left on the B3230 for Stowford, trust me you will be quicker if you stick to the recommended route.

I meant to add that although the ring road can become a bit congested my experience so far has been that provided that you avoid the peak times the traffic flows ok with traffic islands rather than traffic lights which tend to create hold ups.
Keep following the signs for the General Hospital on the ring road and you won't go wrong, 15-20 minutes around the ring road and a nice steady tow up the B road to the garage X roads and you'll be fine
