Hi Jennifer,

If you get the ferry to Stranraer / Cairnryan and don't want to travel far......These are Caravan Club sites but non members are allowed.

1.New England Bay Drummore. An excellent family site right beside a wonderful sandy beach,( nice and flat for children )

There's a light house at Drummore and on a good day you can see Ireland!!

Port Logan nearby is a lovely little hamlet with beach and harbour.....Logan Botanical Gardens are also worth a visit.

Portpatrick is just along the coast.

2.

Further north in Ayrshire is Craigie Gardens Club Site in the town of Ayr.Handy for exploring around the Ayrshire coast.

and of course, someone has already given you details of Brighouse Bay nr. Kirkcudbright. My son and his family go here on a regular basis. The kids adore the place.

So now you have some homework to do.If you need any more info.let us know.

Hi Jennifer,

we stayed this year at a nice site at the foot of Ben Nevis called

glen Nevis touring park.

Within 400 yds is the start of the walk, it is 1 mile outside Fort William,by Loch Linhe, from there we went to Loch Ness, Isle of Skye,Tobermory ( Balomory ) on Mull and Glencoe and many other beautiful places.

Midges werent too bad in July we never got bitten.

hope this helps

Hello Jennifer,

Glen Nevis Caravan park is not, repeat not, by Loch Linnhe although there is a Loch Linnhe Caravan Park.

Go for the Glen Nevis site - it is great, one of our favourites. You can pitch with stunning views of the Mamore Mountains. Brilliant. We'll be there again next year for the umpteenth time.
