    SCREWPEGS

Wow! perhaps I could turn up with a compressor and a pneumatic drill to do a bit of levelling before pitching up....

    Softex Ground Sheet

I had what I assume is this product some while ago, and found that size for size it is very bulky when folded, compared to the Bolon type-if fact at least half as big again. However it is lighter. The holes that allow it to be breathable are too large, so that the grass grows through easily...

    Whale Aqua Source

Neal, the caravan is not subjected to mains pressure, as the connector block to the caravan wall contains a pressure reducing valve. This valave is the achilles heel of the device, as it also reduces the flow.I was rather surprised that Graham described it as 'brilliant', as that has not been my...

    avondale perle

I can't comment on the Perle, but typical construction will have the cupboard facia supported by a frame. This is fixed via vertical screws through the ceiling to framework behind. The shelf to your cupboard will be formed by thin 3mm ply over a light weight frame. The ply is often stapled in...

    Damp damage repairs

Having done a front end damp repair, I would agree with others that the 'bit' of damp you've become aware of is likely to be rather more extensive when you start to strip the job down. Fortunately the woodwork involved should be within the scope of any reasonably competent diy-er. It may be...

    Toilet emptying door inside awning

My Bessacarr has the arrangment Graeme describes, and most of the time its awning location is not an issue. However, just as a hot awning affects the fridge, warming up the contents of the toilet is not desirable either! If your chosen van has an offside toilet so much the better

poor water pressure from tap in toilet/showerroom

Let us know how you get on-always useful to understand these things

poor water pressure from tap in toilet/showerroom

Ewan, since the pipework is all connected, the *pressure* must be the same throughout-it is the *flow* with which you are presumably having problems. The most likely cause is some sort of restriction-perhaps pipework that is almost kinked, or a partial blockage at the tap (you did not mention...

    Caravan Dealer

Josie I know exactly what you mean. I'm guessing they are in the Crosland Moor area. Our buying experience from the same place was very poor too, as was that of my employer, and a formal letter about the various issues was never even acknowledged. I use the shop, but another van? No!

    Choosing a washing line!

If you've been on site long enough to have had to do washing, I imagine the caravan will not be as clean either as when you started out. Would the washing not get dirty being so close to the van? Also, given the stuff my daughter likes, I would think a few scratches from buckles, zips buttons...

    Water Leak in 1998 Swift?

I have been through this recently, and as Euro has said you should establish the cause and remedy the leak as soon as possible. Even though you have only just seen it,the leak may have existed for a long time. I hope the damage is not extensive, but you may be unpleasantly surprised.

    Speed Limit Changed?

John I think that approach is right. We generally go to France where speed limits on certain roads are higher than UK. I have travelled at the 130KPH limit where allowed but only because the much lower traffic density made me feel ok with the speed. In the UK I'm ok too with 60MPH since its much...

    ELECSOL CARBON FIBRE BATTERY

My previous battery was an 85 amp hour and the replacement 100 amp hour Elecsol was the same weight, so this is a worthwhile gain. There is a 110 Ah version too, but the weight is 25.2Kg compared to 19.6Kg for 100Ah and its also longer. Only had it 12 months, so no long term view yet

    broken fridge

John Fridges (in my experience) are generally reliable. First, had the thermostat been turned down too far? Second, the mains supply to the fridge is controlled by a circuit breaker-had this ben tripped? Finally was there any mains power at all to the van-overloaded perhaps? Always best to...

    Hi! Probably a silly question...

I think others have all there is to say about awnings, but commensense has to be applied to the caravan as well, regarding security. I don't think it is sufficient simply to ensure that smaller valuables are in the van as these get burgled too. When you get to know your new van you will...
